Yiwu: the world's biggest small-goods market, with someone who knows how it works

Shanghai meet-up, high-speed train to Yiwu, two days in the International Trade Market with a bilingual sourcing coordinator, and a factory visit in Suzhou or Kunshan on the way back.

01Day by day

The plan

  1. Day 1

    Shanghai to Yiwu

Meet at Shanghai Hongqiao station mid-morning (we collect you from your hotel). High-speed train to Yiwu, about 90 minutes. Check in, then a briefing over lunch: how the International Trade Market is laid out by district, how to read a stall, MOQ and payment norms, and your shortlist for tomorrow. Afternoon in District 1 or 2 to get your eye in.

  2. Day 2

    Full day in the market

The districts that match your categories, with your coordinator negotiating, photographing, collecting cards and logging every quote in a shared sheet. Lunch inside the market. Late afternoon: shortlist review, sample orders placed, follow-up tasks assigned.

  3. Day 3

Factory visit and back to Shanghai

Train back toward Shanghai with a stop in Suzhou or Kunshan for one pre-arranged factory visit in your category (or a second market day if you prefer). Arrive Shanghai by early evening. Your coordinator keeps following up suppliers for two weeks after.

03Questions

About this trip

Who is this for?
Australian retailers, online sellers and small brands buying general merchandise: homewares, gifts, toys, stationery, packaging, accessories, pet products, party supplies, hardware. If you buy electronics, furniture or apparel at scale, a factory circuit in Guangdong may suit better; ask us.
Is Yiwu a market of factories?
Mostly not. Many stalls are trading companies or factory sales offices. That is fine for small orders and for finding categories. Your coordinator will tell you which is which and we can arrange a factory visit for the products that matter.
How many people per trip?
Four to eight. Each business gets its own coordinator time in the market; the group shares transport and hotel pricing. Private trips for one business are available at a higher rate.
What about the Canton Fair?
Our April and October Yiwu trips are timed so you can fly Shanghai to Guangzhou for the fair afterwards. We can add Canton Fair support days with the same coordinator.
Deposit and cancellation?
30% deposit to confirm, balance 30 days before. Full refund less non-refundable costs if you cancel more than 45 days out. See booking terms.
